Nantra Sukhumvit 39 Bangkok Hotel Review

The Nantra is a chain of growing budget hotels throughout Bangkok. A few of them are located strategically near the red light districts.

This particular Nantra hotel can be found on Sukhumvit soi 39, just a couple of minutes walk from the Emporium Mall and the Phrom Phong BTS Sky Train station stair entrance.

Phrom Phong is an area practically synonymous with oily massage parlors that line most of the odd numbered Sukhumvit sois starting from soi 31 and ending around on Soi 26 where Angel Massage is.

So the Nantra is right in the middle of all the greasy oily action so you have a choice of either just showing up at the shops or take advantage of the in-call service which all establishments provide for lazy guys who don't want to leave their rooms.

And since it is guest friendly you need not worry about getting smacked with a joiner fee when you bring back the bar girl of the night to your room.

Nantra's rooms are not expensive considering the neighborhood it is in. Sure there are loads of sex shops to mess around in but it's also sort of a ritzy residential area with high class hotels and condos scattered around.

And there are a few budget hotels in the Phrom Phong and this is certainly one of them. As of writing, Agoda is offering a 40% discount on their 20 square meter economy rooms. With taxes and simple breakfast this tiny little room is all yours for a measly 1000THB a night.

Want to live it up a little for 150THB more? There is also a 50% discount for the 23 square meter so with taxes and breakfast the total is round 1150THB.

But here's a fair warning. Even though the Nantra is only a few years old, signs of shoddy workmanship are becoming present. And you can sure bet that the hotel's profits are not going into hiring the best from Bangkok's work pool.

That said, I know the Nantra Suk 39 has a lot of simple qualities most single visitors to Bangkok's naughty nightlife needs. A clean bed, shower, air condition and a free breakfast treat in the morning. Plus free internet access so a guest can surf porn and spank their monkey when a bar girl is asking for too much money.

A Change of Pace in Hong Kong's Naughty Nightlife

However, I love Hong Kong. A flight from Bangkok to Hong Kong only takes about 3 hours. So it's a great place to go for a short trip.

There's no Soi Cowboy, Nana and Patpong in Hong Kong but there are some places similar on Hong Kong Island in the Wan Chai district. But those bars are usually stocked with ladies from the Philippines where blow jobs and hand jobs are on the menu. Which is fine. I love women from the Philippines. But the prices for drinks and extras at the scam bars of Wan Chai make Patpong look like Chuck E. Cheese.

The upside on Hong Kong's naughty massage parlors is that you can easily find them. Addresses are in English and street numbers and signs are way lot more organized than the sois of Bangkok. So it's not so easy to get lost.

The downside is that most of the girls on 141's massage directory cannot speak English. This is especially true with the better looking girls that work out of hotel rooms such as the Kimberley Hotel in Kowloon. Girls that work out of there are typically straight from the People's Republic of China (PRC).

PRC girls are gorgeous and hot. When you call the phone number that corresponds to their photos it's usually a pimp that picks up and tells you where to go.

Hong Kong bornn girls who run their own "one woman brothels" might be able to understand English or at least communicate with customers better. But in my opinion, HK girls are a bit more 'mature' for my taste and thus reflects their price which typically starts at 250HKD. But of course you can find younger ones but they'll cost you too.

Prostitution in Hong Kong is legal. But there is a limit. Women can charge for sex as long as it is within the confines of their apartments or hotel rooms. So Hong Kong's play for play scene is quite diverse  But I'm not a fan of the Karaoke bars. Which is why 141 comes in really handy. It's the online directory displaying photos (although blurred profiles) of ladies, categorized by price and the district where you can find them, and the services they provide. You can choose in-call service too. And the hotels don't have that joiner fee nonsense so all major hotels in Hong Kong are guest friendly.

The downside however is that Hong Kong's hotels are expensive. What's worse is that the rooms are small, even at the expensive hotels too.

But I've been to Hong Kong enough times to know which ones are affordable, clean and comfortable. Though hotel rates for even my choice hotels can soar due to holidays or conventions. So plan ahead and pick your travel dates.

I like to stay in the Kowloon side of Hong Kong. If you take a look at 141's website you'll find that there are many districts within Kowloon where you can find a shit load of women living in those areas, like Mongkok, Tsim Tsa Tsui, Jordan, Yau Ma Tei and Prince Edward. Great thing is that you can walk easily from one district to the next because Kowloon is not a big area.

So this is how it works with 141. You only need a phone to call the phone number of the girl. Depending on the type of girl you either visit her in her apartment, or visit her at the hotel she is staying at. You can purchase sim cards with prepaid minutes at a 7 Eleven or any other similar type convenience store. It should work as long as your phone is unlocked and GSM capable.

Here's a tip: Girls working out of hotels are better looking and usually younger. They cost more too, above 600HKD. And they typically don't give massages either, sort of like the sideline girls in Bangkok where you're paying more for looks and age rather than service.

HK massage girls in the lower price range typically operate out of their own apartments and provide massage.

I know that in the Kimberly Hotel in the Tsim Tsa Tsui district of Kowloon has a shit load of girls working on certain floors. The ladies rates start from 600HKD up to 1200HKD. Please keep in mind that the hotel has nothing to do with any of the prostitutes. As far as the hotel knows (or cares) is that a guest is simply staying at their hotel.

What I do is whenever I see a profile of a girl I find hot and see that she's in the Tsim Tsa Tsui area and charging 800HKD, I know there's a good chance she's in the Kimberley Hotel. And when you call that number someone (usually some kind of pimp) picks up to tell you exactly where she's at or what room number. Anyways, you will know for sure because right on the girls profile it will say 'hotel walk in', which basically means they're working out of a hotel room.

And if she's busy or doesn't fit your schedule you can always ask who is available at the hotel. This is one of the reasons why I enjoy staying at the Kimberely Hotel. Another hotel I really like in a great location is the Prudential Hotel Hong Kong. If you can afford their room rates they've got the biggest rooms in Kowloon. No, there are no hookers inside. The Prudential is close to the Jordan and Mong Kok district, where a lot of girls on 141 are found too. However, if you take a walk around you'll find signs like the one below by the entrance of apartment buildings:

I'm not a big fan of brothels that openly advertise on the streets of Hong Kong. However, I know a lot of guys that don't care. If these types of brothels are places you'd like to visit then consider staying at the Casa Hotel. This hotel has tiny small rooms and I'm not exaggerating one bit. But in terms of Hong Kong hotel prices, the Casa is affordable. There are many brothels around the hotel to check out.

The bulk of 141's directory are made up of these so called "one woman brothels" where massage girls work out of their apartments. Most of their prices start at around 250HKD and up to 600HKD. Many of these apartment brothels can be found around Kowloon, near the hotels I recommend above.

They do not have pimps so they are the only ones who pick up and tell you where the exact location and floor plus room number to get to. As a first timer, when you get to such a building you'd be surprised to see that the entire floor or floors are inhabited by one woman brothels. You can see by the tell tale signature red lights outside of the apartment doors. Some even have pictures of themselves wearing sexy lingerie.

So I'm heading to Hong Kong early next month and besides the great food I'll be checking out some PRC girls. And to be honest as fun as I think Bangkok's nightlife is I really don't mind mixing it up a bit by traveling and checking red light districts in other countries.

A Last Night Out at Poseidon Massage

It was my buddy's last night in Bangkok before he crawled back to whatever hole he came from. For a treat I took him out to Sherbet G Club. It's his first experience ever at a club where you'll find many girls in the 8s to 10s in the looks and body category.

At Sherbet for the first 2 hours of drinking and having a great time I saw him whisper into the ear of the young 20 something. You can see from a mile away how bad he wanted to get into her panties. Traffic was going to be heavy going up Ratchada road and there are lots of clubs and pubs in the area, so we knew traffic could be a problem.

We assured our taxi driver if he could get us to Poseidon in 10 minutes he'd get a tip. What a big mistake. Most taxi drivers in Bangkok have a death wish. And offering a juicy tip for speeding is as good as giving a driver a license to kill passengers.

Sure enough, the got us there in 9 minutes by weaving through sub sois. I was going to hand the driver a 100THB tip on top of the 75THB fare. But my buddy gave the guy 500THB for everything and the driver was ecstatic. And my buddy's a scrooge. I'm sure right when he sobers up he's going to flip out.

When we got to the doors of Poseidon we had already discussed on checking out the model girls first on the 3rd floor.

For the newbies, if you want to take a look at the ladies in the model category, I recommend taking the elevators on the first floor. The elevators are located on the right side of the staircases. I say this because if you head straight up the stairs to the 2nd floor you'll come across the Poseidon's fishbowl section. That's where you'll come across a bunch of papasans or mamasans. For some reason, Poseidon has a pretty large sales force. Once I've counted 10 lounging around.

Anyways they'll try to get you to take a fishbowl girl so they can earn a commission, thinking you don't know any better. Unless you ask of course where the models are. However, it's just best to take the elevators from the 1st floor.

When we got to the 3rd floor we noticed there were not a lot of girls left. Most are eating or drinking with customers already or upstairs in the rooms. But the 4 'model' type girls sitting down didn't do anything for us. So we took the elevators back down to the 2nd floor to the fishbowl. By the way, Poseidon's model girls start at 3000THB and can go up to 6000THB. I've heard some ex-Penthouse girls cost 7000THB for 60 minutes and you have to make a reservation.

My suggestion is save your money. They are not worth it. Go buy a Thai Penthouse magazine and some lotion (unless you prefer dry action) and have a box of tissue handy. The money you save is priceless. Unless you have so much money you don't know what to do with it then go ahead and knock yourself out.

When we got down to the fishbowl we didn't see a whole lot of girls either. There were only 6 at the moment but at any given time, Poseidon has around 25 girls. If the mamasan of papasan tells you there are 40 girls working at any given moment, don't believe them. Never of all my years I have ever seen more than 30 girls sitting in a fishbowl. The place by far with the most available girls is Nataree Massage.

Girls sitting on the left side of the fishbowl cost 2200THB and on the right cost 2600THB. Both rates are for 2 hours and you only get 1 shot. You have to tip the girl separately if you want 2 shots.

We waited a bit and not too long a few more girls came down and sat on the 2200THB side. Since it was getting late we decided what the heck and chose our ladies.

Typically I'm a bit choosier though I can't say the same for my friend. In the looks department I give the fishbowl girl a 5. But overall, it was pretty good service as usual and the rooms are clean too. Which is one of the many reasons why I enjoy going to Poseidon.

After about an 1 and a half (even if they say you get 2 hours you normally don't get the full time paid for) my buddy headed back to his hotel to get ready after a couple hours of sleep.

I wished him a safe trip and said lets go back to Sherbet next time and he flipped me the bird.

Note: To get to Poseidon Massage, it's best to take the MRT subway train to Sutthisan Station. Make sure to look for Exit #4. Once you get out of the station, take a right and walk down. If you look up you will see Poseidon's neon lights. It's about a 300 meter walk.

A Revisit to Caesar's Soapy Massage

For some reason, a lot of first timers to Bangkok visit these Big 3 soapies in Huay Kwang:

So on his most recent stay he's been telling me to go with him to Caesars because for the past few days he's been hooking up with some hot looking talent. I figured why not, it wouldn't hurt to just take a look around. And I've been having a string of good luck recently by venturing off  my usual routine.

I agreed to meet up with him at the front entrance of Caesars, the first time I've been back in years. I saw a lot of luxury cars outside. Which is a good sign if the locals are there too. Sure enough things have changed inside, but not by much. The fishbowl is still where it is though the section where the sideliners and model girls look expanded.

We were greeted by a papasan who immediately recognized my friend who has been visiting frequently. The whole time he shadowed us as we scoped out the girls. It was about 7pm and there were a fair amount of girls for a Wednesday night. I counted at least 15 girls idling in the fishbowl and 12 sideliners chatting with a few trying to make eye contact.

After 15 minutes of deciding and debating and teasing each others choice of girls, my friend decided on a buxom fish bowl girl and I picked a slim and tall 22 year old sideliner with a great pair of dimples (her tits were not bad either).

I paid 2800THB for60 minutes of her time. Was it worth it? Sure, it was fun. But I wouldn't consistently pay 2800THB while I can head across to Nataree and find a cute girl for 2300THB. Though Caesar's quality of girls are better then Nataree I have to admit.

Though my friend says he had a really good time the fishbowl girl he chose. So maybe someday I'll try out one of the ladies there.

Even then, if Caesar massage dropped their prices a little they just might see me there more often.

Loy Chalet Resort, Lan Saka, Nakhon Si Thammarat

Two times in a short time we visited Lan Saka, a small sleepy village near the mountains in the province of Nakhon Si Thammarat. We stayed at two different resorts and this was our favorite one. The rooms are the nicest in this place although the staff was rather uninterested, in contrast to the other location, where the owner was very nice and accommodating.

The resort is about 5km outside of Lan Saka on your right hand side, going East. The resort is rather small and build on a hill surrounded by green and trees, really beautiful. The rooms are spacious and clean although no fridge nor wifi inside the room.

Nearby are plenty of things to do and see, a visit to the Karom waterfall in the Khao Luang National Park or a visit to Wat That Noi, only 20km to the East.

Very nice nature and a very relaxing part of Thailand. Enjoy it!

A Bit of Thai Comic Book Humor

Just came across this little piece of comic this weekend. If you're a frequent visitor to the soapy massage scene in Thailand you don't really need to read Thai to figure out what's going on in the top panel.

As you can see it's a guy in a soapy faced with making a choice in front of a fishbolw. The papasan is asking which lady he wants to choose. He says he can't decide. 5 Must Not Miss Hotels Deals in Bangkok This Week

I've located a handful of hotels right in Bangkok's Soi Cowboy and Nana red light districts that are pushing out some heavy discounts. So in this post I'll share 4 thai girl friendly hotels in Sukhumivt and also 1 super affordable hotel in the soapy massage center of Huay Kwang.

And from now until November 12th, 2013 if you book 3 nights you'll get a 35% discount for a 32 square meter deluxe room. Price per night including breakfast and taxes is around 2800THB/night.

Sheraton Grande Sukhumvit

The Sheraton Grande Sukhumvit is a familiar high quality international hotel chain. It has 5 stars to its name including a expensive room price to prove it. Which is why if you can get a good deal for a room there you should jump at it. The hotel location is right by the corner of Asoke and Sukhumvit Junction, so it's a short hop to Soi Cowboy on foot or a 10 minute stroll to Nana Entertainment Plaza on soi 4.

I haven't been to the Sheraton's Hotel popular bar called Barsu in ages but I've been hearing that there are quite a few good looking Thai girls on the hook looking for customers. Might be worth a look see even if it's just to check out the live jazz bands that perform there frequently.

Right now the deal is book for 4 nights and receive a 25% discount. So nightly rate comes out to about 5700THB per night which for some it's still a bit pricey. But hey, if you can afford it then bravo to you.

The President Solitaire is another hotel I have been recommending to those with a little bit of cash to spend or for those who just want to lap it up in luxury for a short time. It's located on Sukhumvit soi 11, not too far from Q Bar and it's like. Speaking of Q Bar, check out the French inspired restaurant in the back for an awesome meal and drinks, including Absinthe at reasonable prices.

Okay, back to the hotel. The President Solitaire is a 4 star hotel though it is aging. But still it is well maintained for a comfortable and enjoyable stay. There was a 50% off discount but that's gone now. I checked certain dates in March and there is a 20% discount which still isn't too shabby for a 80 square meter one bedroom including breakfast all for an unbeatable 2600THB including taxes.

Up next is the Tai Pan Hotel on Sukhumvit soi 23 which is on the same soi on the east entrance of Soi Cowboy. So it's just a short 5 minute stroll away. It's an adequate 3 star hotel in a top location with a lot of positive reviews.

Cha Da Hotel in Huay Kwang

Finally I know there are a lot of people who only enjoy going to soapy massage parlors and prefer staying next to a lot of them.

The Bangkok Cha Da Hotel is one of the better budget guest friendly hotels in Huay Kwang right by many soapies. The closest soapy is the Lord Spa which is pricey but they have a lot of hot Thai girls inside. Colonze 2 is not far from the hotel either, about a 10 minute walk. Emmanualle, Caesars and my all time favorite Nataree is about a 10 to 15 minute walk from the hotel doors too.

You can get a 26% discount at Cha Da Hotel which comes out to about 1250THB per night including taxes for a 30 square meter superior room. And they've recently renovated their rooftop pool too which has a great view over Huay Kwang.

An Interview with Gam the Go Go Bar Girl

She wanted a nose job. The next day a sponsor dropped 100,000THB into her account. The operation was performed from a well known Thai plastic surgeon from a top notch hospital and only cost 60,000THB. The rest was spent on a holiday to recuperate in Phuket a few days.

The first time I met Gam I knew there was something special about her. For a short while she was my short time girlfriend and I found out a lot about her as she did about me. She's a gorgeous girl inside and outside with a bright personality that never quits.

She left her small village at age 15 and found work at a small 2 star hotel in Bangkok. Most girls would be sad to leave their village. Gam was excited. Because she had nothing left after her grandmother had past with her parents long gone or dead there was nothing else.

It was either take her chances in Bangkok or stay with an uncle that always eyed her in a way that made her feel uncomfortable.

It was a no brainer decision. With one sack of clothes it was off to Bangkok she goes or be tormentend by a sick twisted uncle that drinks home brewed hooch.

Me: Gam, thanks for doing this. Some things have changed in the industry since it has been written up in many websites and numerous blogs. It would be great if you can offer some insights from your perspective today.

Gam: Thank you Jim, it's my pleasure. I have not seen you for a few months and always wanted to catch up with you. I've never been in interview so I don't know how to start.

Me: Just relax, have some more wine. Let's start off with a juicy question. What kinds of customers do you prefer? And why?

And please be honest okay. I know in your line of work white lies are a part of the business. Don't be shy and say everything that is in your heart even if you think it's offensive to your customers.

Gam: Haha, okay I will, I promise. At least you asked a easy question first. Personally, I prefer Korea, Chinese and Japanese man followed by Australia and America man.

I can see surprise look on your face and I know this is not a common answer from a girl from Isaan. I explain why. I watch many movies and shows from Korea, China and Japan ever since I first came to Bangkok. And the men in those TV shows and movies were so handsome that ever since I have a crush to this day. I also watch many movies from America which is how I learned to speak English and think many American movie star are handsome too.

Me: What about Austrailan men?

Gam: Oh, I find they are very funny and always like a good time, at least that is from my experience.

Me: So which do you prefer, looks or sense of humor?

Gam: I prefer money haha...

Me: That's a good answer, a really good answer haha.. I actually thought you were going to say you prefer Asian men because they are quicker to shoot in bed and have shorter penis. And since you love money so much they pay more.

Gam: From my personal experience, all men shoot quick, it is up to age. Many of my customers under 30 years old shoot quicker, does not matter where they come from. And dick size I see many and can say not all Asia man are small. I see many Europe man have small size even when body very big and tall. And I see many Asia man short and small body but have big size.

And it does not matter where man come from when pay money. Many Japan man are cheap too and always ask for discount. Yes, before Japan man always pay more money when ask. Today, China man pay more and tip too.

Me: Next question, who is better in bed?

Gam: There is no easy answer. I only don't like man that is rough. I find that India and Arab man are mostly rough. Not all of course, some are good customers too. But sometimes they have smell on skin that I cannot stand. I know you explained to me before it is something they eat called comin'.

Me: Actually it is called cumin. It's a spice found in many of their food and pronounced like "cool men".

Gam: Yes, so many girls I work with complain about Arab and Indian man because of those smell. But to be fair many Europe man can be just as bad when having sex and have bad body odor. For Arab and India man the smell not come off even after shower.

But I remember I have one India man customer and him come from UK, very nice, no bad smell and good tipper. Very polite and friendly.

Me: Any crazy stories involving your customers?

Gam: I have so many! My god, you cannot believe how many man are so crazy. I have one customer who ask me to put big fake dick in him ass and say "Ask mommy to punish you!".  At the time he make me wear Hello Kitty costume. I don't know how many time him use fake dick but him don't wash because when I take out from bag it smell like shit.

One customer ask me to dance slowly and he take care of himself. He have this really crazy eye look on his face. And when he cum he make sound like crying baby.

Me: Gam, are you making this shit up? (I was being sarcastic. I know a lot of crazy requests are actually made by some punters)

Gam: No Jim, I swear. No lies. The worst customer I have and he from Europe I forget where. He have so many tattoos and on him dick too. After he cum he start to cry. And then he become angry and scream to me what I make him do. I was so scared. I though I he was going to kill me. I leave very fast. This was in him apartment and he bar fine me for long time. After that day I tell myself I have to finish with this lifestyle.

This is one of the reasons I always ask money first when I in customer hotel room or apartment.

Me: I interviewed a very good friend in the last post. He says that most Isaan women working in the red light districts perform dirty sexual acts like licking assholes. Would you say that is a fair assessment?

Gam: When the price is right yes I would that is fair to say. You see, most Isaan girls have to make money quickly. So they have to do whatever it takes including eating ass.

Isaan girls have a strong obligation to help support their parents and siblings in their villages. So they do whatever it takes to fulfill their family commitment.

Me: That's something I really have to say about Isaan ladies. They've really sacrificed themselves to put food on their family's plates and then some.

Gam: Very true. I don't have any family to support which is why I am able to save up a lot of money. Plus learning from you the importance of saving money and not throwing it away from you was a wake up call.

I know there are a lot of girls that have worked years to make so much money and they spend it all with not one single baht to their name. Gambling, drugs, bad men, greedy spoiled family have ruined many good Isaan ladies.

I try to look out for the younger ladies I see come to work in the clubs. These are beautiful girls and whenever I see them I see myself those 6 years ago the first time working in go go bar. I take them under my wing and explain to them what you tell me about putting the money away safely and wisely.

Me: Yes, use your money to work for you instead of working for your money.

Gam: I remember, you are a good teacher. Sadly, some ladies learn and many do not. When I saw one girl blowing away her money she accused me of wanting to take advantage of her.

I am not angry at her. I just feel sorry of what may come to her when her looks fade and become undesirable.

I do not think any lady working in sex want to be doing the job forever.

Me: There are exceptions. I call them lifers. And they are on the job to fulfill some type of emotional need on top of monetary.

Gam, do you regret your profession at all?

Gam: (A long pause) I do. But at the same time I don't. I still remember my life before I left the farm all those years ago. I was working the rice fields early in the morning until afternoon where I had to complete all kinds of manual labor. And the pay was very poor. And my money always went to my grandmother when she still alive.

Sometimes I hear foreigners complain about ladies working in bars. They say if we study harder in school we wouldn't have to be prostitutes. That is something so stupid to say. How they know about our life?

Me: I agree, a lot of people who visit here are very ignorant.

Gam: Yes, I chose this work. But I did not choose my parents who abandoned me. In Thailand we do not have social welfare services like other countries. We are left alone to fend for ourselves. I wanted to go to school when I arrived in Bangkok after I found my job in a hotel. They paid me 4000THB a month. And 1500THB went to support my older sister with a daughter and her dead beat husband.

After paying rent, I did not have enough money to pay for school. Working in the bars have earned myself a lot of money. But it is a big sacrifice. I have more than enough money to start my own business and get out of this life. But I want to get married and it is hard for me to find a good man. I want children too and give them everything I never had including good education.
